AT&T at Congressional CC

I don’t understand why cellphones and cameras were not allowed at the AT&T Tournament hosted by Tiger Woods. Isn’t AT&T one of the largest cell phone companies in the country? Shouldn’t they have been allowing their product to be used at their tournament? Are cameras really that annoying that the players who are more than 10 feet away at the closest really going to be that bothered by them? I understand that they want it quiet while they are in their swing, but for the other 15 minutes between swings, why can’t we use our phones? It would have been nice to be able to take a few pictures to help remember the day. When we got to the merchandise tent, there was no memerabilia for sale, everything was pretty much sold out. So all I have is a ticket stub to remember the day. Well, my memory is pretty bad, so I really wish I could have taken a few pictures. Overall, it was a very nice venue and getting in and out of there was extremely easy.

Notes from the vet.

We are sitting at the vet waiting to see how bad she hurt herself. We were at the gas station when she jumped out of the window. So far she has had 2 sets of xrays.

Slowly getting everything back together.

Well, the long import of all the pictures that I have been able to save are slowly getting put back up in my gallery. I spent a lot of time reorganizing all the pictures and more will need to be done before this project is ever finished. This has been a low priority as work has become extremely busy and I have a lot of home improvement projects that I need to help friends and family out with.

I really messed up my photo gallery.

While upgrading to Gallery 2.2.1, i accidentally said remove all old pictures without thinking. That deleted the whole directory where all my pictures were stored. Luckily I have most of them located on my hard disks at home, and will hope to get the pictures back up soon.

Ode to the Indestructible Dog Toy

I believe that the indestructible dog toy does not exist. Our 30 pound Australian Shepherd has the drive and determination to destroy whatever toy is given to her. She received 2 toys, one that was called indestructible and one that was rated 8 out of 10 on a destructibility scale. She has destroyed the first and is well on her way on the second.

Past Weekend

We traveled to Delaware for a birthday party at the Delaware State Fair Ice Rink. It was my first time ice skating. I have done some inline skating, but never ice skating. I think that I did ok, I only fell once and smacked my elbow pretty hard on the ice, but it felt better the next day. It is similar to inline skating, but I prefer the stability of inline skates.
This past weekend there was a major recall on wet dog and cat foods. Luckily none of the foods that we feed our animals was on the list. I remember seeing an article where a lady said that she had been feeding her cats Iams and said that was the best food out there. I don’t think that she really did her research, because I feel that there are a lot of foods that are much better. Innova EVO, Solid Gold, Merrick, and Frohms, to name a few. It is kind of scary that feeding a store bought food to your animals could be potentially fatal, but that same thing can happen to humans as well as shown by the recent e. coli outbreaks that have occured.

Cut thumb.

While building a new core 2 extreme machine for work, I found out that getting a paper cut from metal is really not very fun. It ended up being about 2 hours at the emergency room. The doctors and nurses at the hospital were all very nice and told me that it was a good idea that I came in. It took 5 stitches to stop the bleeding. On the positive side, I was able to finish building the machine the next day. It was a little difficult to work the day of the cut, due to the huge bandage that was on my thumb. Luckily it does not hurt and I was able to just use a normal band-aid the next day.

Quick Update

Since my last post, I have been to the Wizards/Raptors game. That was a really good showing for the home team. Unfortunately, they fell apart the next night in Atlanta and lost to a team with 3 starters sitting out. The Wizards are a hard team to understand, they can play and beat the best teams in the league and lose to the lower echelon teams on other nights. The Buffalo Bills parted ways with Nate Clements, London Fletcher, and Willis McGahee. I think that missing Clements is going to be painful, but getting three draft picks for Willis is a real bonus for the Bills. His production had dropped the past few years, and running backs are fairly easy to find in the draft. Just look at the Pats and Colts. Also they signed 3 offensive line players, the big signing being Derrick Dockery from the Redskins. Hopefully the line can gel and provide JP Losman some time in the backfield to make good decisions. March Madness is getting closer and it looks like George Mason will not be having another cinderella run. I wonder if there is another team like them that will make a big splash for the mid majors.

All the dogs are doing well. We have been trying to train them to not bark when people walk by the house. I am not sure if it is getting better yet, but we are trying. They go bonkers whenever someone walks by or rings the doorbell. They also are not keen on visitors, which makes it hard to have people stop by. They usually settle down, but they are protective of us.

The busy part of the season is coming up. In the next few months, trips to Deleware, Michigan, and South Carolina are planned. Hopefully there will be updates and interesting things to read. I also plan on putting pictures of my friends ’71 Nova up when I stop by to get them.

Random Thoughts

Went to the bookstore today and got a book about Road Biking Washington DC. It looks pretty interesting, but I have not really looked at it yet. I would like to get into the habit of riding every day or every other day, but it depends on the weather at this point. I think it is getting warm enough that I would not need a special wardrobe to bike now. A few days/weeks ago it would have been painful without a mask and some gloves. Plus, my tires are definitly not ready to plow through snow or ice. That would be really tricky. Hopefully I can commit and even try to bike to work a few times a week. More later.
